Action Against Drought In Rural Areas

Action Against Drought In Rural Areas

raised funds 10%

Annually, climate and water-related disasters have a detrimental effect on communities worldwide, resulting in fatalities, the devastation of socioeconomic infrastructures and the deterioration of ecosystems that are already delicate (WHO, 2024).

In severe circumstances, drought may lead to starvation, displacement, and war in addition to endangering ecosystems and livelihoods.  Droughts account for just 15% of natural catastrophes, yet they cause 60% of all deaths brought on by extreme weather events.

Droughts resulted approximately USD 124 billion in economic losses worldwide between 1998 and 2017. However, just three nations had complete response plans in 2013, even though 70 countries experience droughts on a regular basis (UNCCD, 2024). Creating drought resilience in everyone is one of EPSAACCI’s main goals. Our objective is to encourage a radical change in drought management and prevention.
